30 years worldwide experience
From his origins working as a physical training instructor, Dr Gary Norwood, now an internationally acclaimed therapist, realized the importance of massage therapy in correcting and maintaining physical function.
He studied massage therapy at the NSW College of Naturopathic Sciences and began treating sports and general injuries. In the mid 1980’s he studied acupuncture & Chinese medicine which enabled him to treat a wider range of problems more effectively.
Gary's speciality became pain & injury management. He treated many sports injuries for footballers, golfers, tennis players, triathletes and swimmers, alongisde workplace injuries and chronic degenerative conditions.
In current times, stress is a huge cause of pain manifesting in conditions including: sciatica, headaches (migraine), neck and back pain, TMJ, fibromyalgia, insomnia, inflammation and nerve problems, arthritis, liver and digestive disorders, PMT, energy depletion and other related issues.
Importantly, diet, lifestyle modification and exercise must be part of the healing process. From operating his own practice in Melbourne in the 1980's, Gary provided services for clinics in Port Douglas QLD and Airlie Beach, before opening a pratice in Springwood, Brisbane in the 1990's.
Gary left Australia in 1998 and worked at the famous Spa Hotel in Palm Springs California and afterwards was head therapist at the St Regis 5 star resort in Aspen Colorado. He then worked at the Boca Raton Resort in Palm Beach, Florida and ran his own clinic in that area for the next ten years. He passed national board examinations in acupuncture, chinese medicine and therapeutic massage and bodywork which made him a D.O.M - doctor of oriental medicine.
During this time he studied Biopuncture at the University of Miami and attended seminars with Dr Jan Kerschott; a european physician who specializes in Biopuncture. This was added to his license. Dr Gary found this western needling and injection model more suitable for a western clientele to understand as opposed to chinese, so he combined both techniques to produce better results.
His treatment success rate is an impressive 80%.
